A Little Bit About Myself

I use my training in public health and human-centered design to make systems more equitable and efficient. Our country’s astounding maternal mortality rate keeps me up at night, and I strive to untangle factors such as institutionalized racism, unequal access to healthcare resources, and community wellness. I’m optimistic about the future, but there’s a lot to do. I strive to make pregnancy and childbirth safer, include midwives into the mainstream model of healthcare, and promote more sensible payment structures.

I have trained as a doula, worked with midwives in Morocco and the Navajo Nation, and developed maternal healthcare policies serving upwards of 40,000 pregnancies and childbirths annually as Kaiser Permanente’s Maternal and Child Health Consultant.

I’m most inspired working at the intersection of design and strategy, with healthcare as the fulcrum. In addition to my Master of Public Health degree from UCLA’s Fielding School of Public Health Community Health Sciences department, I have worked in an array of settings, from independent film to fashion design to innovation consulting. Although my passion lies within women’s health, I love a good strategic challenge and an enriching design project, no matter what the subject is.

I hail from the mountains of Colorado, but have lived in Oregon, New York, and Los Angeles, which I now call home. I enjoy a good cup of coffee, fancy school supplies, disco, and figuring people out.
